Houstonian Releases A Lost Interview with Star Trek Creator Gene Roddenberry

RARE 1973 PHONE CHAT GIVES INCITE INTO THE BIRTH OF STAR TREK

Former Houston radio and television personality Scott Arthur was spring cleaning recently when he came across a telephone interview he did with the “Father” of Star Trek in 1973.

“It’s 40 years ago almost to the day.”Scott said. “I was a young DJ at WARM radio in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Mr. Roddenberry was scheduled to speak at a local college and I got his phone number and set up an interview to promote the event in advance.” said the Texas Radio Hall of Famer.

To put this in context, the original Star Trek series (Star Trek TOS) ran 79 episodes on NBC from 1966-1969 and then was canceled. The interview took place about the time determined “Trekkies” began a nationwide campaign petitioning the network to bring the series back to TV. It seems the show began to build a cult following after it aired in prime time and was banished to “re-run land”. The network chiefs felt the series and the concept had no future … that was 12 feature films and 5 separate TV series ago. This multi-million dollar franchise also includes Star Trek comics, merchandise, novels and even games.

“Before I began rolling tape ….he told me that the TV set was going to be the center of our lives. He said, your TV will have a typewriter in front of it – and open up the world to you. Just a glimpse of his genius and vision.” said Scott. “With all the hype of the new Trek Movie – this is fun to listen to. He shares how they invented the Spock character and was told to hide him, what the woman’s lib movement forced him to do  … and what inspired the Transporter.”

A-Rod's Big Duh Moment

Reports broke this weekend that New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodrigueztested positive for steroids use back in 2003. He's FINALLY owning up to the truth!  We'd feel sorry for him and his big bad year, but if you're gonna be dumb, you've gotta be tough.

A-Rod told ESPN on Monday that he did take the drugs while he was playing for the Texas Rangers. It apparently happened during a three-year period which began back in 2001. Rodriguez, the liar, said

"When I arrived in Texas in 2001, I felt an enormous amount of pressure. I needed to perform, and perform at a high level every day."

DISH calls BS on that one. What a horrible excuse!

He went on to say,

"Back then, it was a different culture. It was very loose. I was young, I was stupid, I was naïve. I wanted to prove to everyone I was worth being one of the greatest players of all time. I did take a banned substance. For that, I'm very sorry and deeply regretful."

So Just wahat made him think that he would be worthy of being one of the all time greats by cheating?? Where is the logic in that thought??

His excuse making continued...

"I had just signed this enormous contract I felt like I needed something, a push, without over-investigating what I was taking, to get me to the next level. I am sorry for my Texas years. I apologize to the fans of Texas."

A-Rod claims he's now clean, question is, DO we care?? CHEATER, LIAR!! He should have to give his pay check back because he didn't earn it properly.

Back in 2007, during an interview with Katie Couric, he claimed he had never used 'roids. His excuse for that lie is...

"at the time, I wasn't being truthful with myself. How could I be truthful with Katie Couric or CBS?"

Only Because It's Coming to Houston...

Is why DISH will talk about it....honestly we don't know many well educated big brains that love and adore wrestling...but here goes anyway.

Mickey Rourke is not the brightest bulb in the box. As we told you earlier, actor mentioned that he had agreed to participate in WrestleMania's big 25th anniversary this April in Houston. Rourke said the guys from WWE called and asked him to do it and he accepted (DISH is confused on this one, the movie is already out so there is no promoting that so is he thinking that the wrestling watching sect is going to make his star rise again??). Rourke also said Chris Jericho should "get in shape cause Mickey was gonna come after your ass." (Classy)

The saga continued Tuesday evening, Rourke and Jericho spoke via satellite on Larry King Live and hyped up the fight.

But WAIT...now there is drama...duh...now, it seems the big badass is nothing more than a washed up actor!

A rep for Rourke said that in fact the actor will NOT be fighting against Jericho this April in Houston.

Apparently, "He is focusing entirely on his acting career," says his publicist.

SO...we are assuming they are doing this to see how much of an up roar his pulling out causes in the wrestling watching community?? geez people...get real. Rockets Basketball, Houston Astros...now that's a sport!!

More H-Town Knowles News

DISH swears these people must be so crazy shady...Rumors are spreading like the latest cold front that former Destiney's Child member Kelly Rowland has fired her longtime manager and father figure, Mathew Knowles.

The firing of Beyonce's dad reportedly took place yesterday.

They have known each other and worked together for so long, what in the world could have happened to make this firing happen?? hhmm maybe not giving Kelly the necessary attention and only focusing on his family members. Possibly the rumor that one of Beyonce's albums was dropped early specifically to push Kelly's first solo project to the back?? hhmm Just Sayin'

DISH is begging for Rowland to DISH about this soon! Inquiring minds want know. She's too classy to really DISH however...so if she does talk, DISH will be more than happy to pass along to obligatory and official "Press" answer. It's was time to move on, I needed a change, a new direction. We are all still friends and I respect them so much. We even still talk all the time...blah blah blah
