Stages Repertory Theatre: A Houston Mainstay
Houston seems to have a deep love for beer...and breweries. You can do all kinds of things with old breweries, like start a theatre company for instance.
In 1978, in the damp basement of a downtown brewery is where Stages burst onto the Houston theatre scene, daring audiences to see the newest, most audacious works written for the stage. Now entering its 32nd season and comfortably settled in the former Star Engraving building on Allen Parkway, Stages is a professional Equity theatre that produces new work, interprets established work in new ways, and nurtures talent for the performing arts field. Characterized by courage, generosity, ingenuity and intimacy, Stages remains and integral part of the Houston arts community.
All theatres need funds to continue to play and ticket sales aren't always enough to keep this amazing cultural addition to our city running strong. Therefore the Stages Gala is coming up on Saturday, March 24th at the Four Season Hotel! Co-Chairs Designer Jerri Moore and Neal Hamil are bring this raucous party to us in the theme of the traditional and always fun Costume Ball! Think of your craziest fantasy and bring it to life! It's your chance to show the world how creative you are and live the life of another for an evening!

DISH hopes you will consider adding Stages to your list of amazing experiences of Houston list. It's fun for the whole family! They even have the "Early Stages" shows for kids! Houston is so blessed to have such a diverse and expansive theatre community and Stages is absolutely part of the crown jewels!

Defending champion Ryan Sweeting will be joined in the field by former champions Marcel Granollers (2008), Ivo Karlovic (2007) and World No. 8 Mardy Fish (2006). They are joined in the field by James Blake, who was a two-time winner of the River Oaks International (2003, ’05).
