April is for Apes!

It’s no April Fool’s Day prank.  The Houston Zoo is turning April into “Ape”ril at the Houston Zoo and celebrating apes all month long.

During “Ape”ril the Houston Zoo will be featuring chimpanzees, orangutans, and siamangs, three of the world’s ape species, which can also be seen at the Zoo, with entertaining and educational activities including an ape themed Zoobilee, the Zoo’s annual Member-only event, an ape Spotlight on Species, ape themed events during Waste Management Earth Day at the Houston Zoo, and a Wild Wink Overnight at Tommy’s Tree House in the newest addition to the Zoo, The African Forest.  “Ape”ril at the Houston Zoo also includes a special ape giveaway for each child who visits the Zoo this month. Giveaway begins April 2. Limit one per child while supplies last. Item distributed upon exit.  For more information about ‘Ape’ril at the Houston Zoo, CLICK HERE

What to Buy....

Oh DISHES! Shopping is tough for folks. We mostly buy what we want for ourselves rather than ask for it from others at the holidays and birthdays. More over...some people tend to try to give gifts to people to make them like them. A boy called DISH just the other day asking what to buy for a girl he likes...DISH'S response was if you knew her well enough you would know what to buy her. Clearly it was too soon to buy her things.

We digress....CLICK HERE for the coolest and most unique gift ideas. From the Houston ZOO, to locally owned businesses like M2M Style Lounge, DISH is the best place to shop!

Happy Holidays DISHES!

Meet Prada

The Ball Python.

DISH fell in love with this sweet snake at the FLOCK event benefiting the Health Museum at the Houston Zoo Thursday.

Chris was the kind reptile handler who kept bringing the animals out to visit with us flockers. We asked what her name was and he said none of the reptiles had names because there were over 1400 and it would be difficult to remember them all. The problem is, lots of folks fell in like with this hugger. PLUS she has a heart on her!!! Chris was kind enough to let us name her and he even put her name on her feeding card so it really is her name for ever and ever!

DISHIES....Meet PRADA!

We named her that because Prada has so many items made out of her family members that we though it fitting that there was a living python with that name =)

Head over to the Houston Zoo to the reptile exhibit and as to see Prada. She may even come out to give you a hug! =)

P.S. Here is DISHIE Ted Bowen with the Gray-Banded King Snake, these snakes are not poisonous and are impervious to other snake bites like the rattle snake. It's a sweet snake but we didn't name it because it pooped on us =( ...after it sat on Ted's head.

Flock!

Thursday was a big night in Houston! There was the Keller Williams Cares event at Momentum Audi to raise money for an agent who is fighting breast cancer. There was the Young Professionals FLOCK event at the Houston Zoo. There was the SPCA event at Zaza....all in all it was a fun and wonderful evening.

The above video was compiled by local photographer Todd Parker whom DISH has come to love and adore (and his DISHIE wife Cindy)! The still pics will be on the Party DISH soon but in the mean time enjoy this video from the FLOCK event! We were right next to the Giraffes and one of the baby elephants painted a picture that was auctioned off that evening. The food was provided by Grotto and Saint Arnolds was there too! GOOD BEER!!!!
