This the Trip....
Hey DISHIES...for those of you that are Texas music lovers and are old enough...do you remember that awesome band Sister 7?? Well you have absolutely heard of the lead singer Patrice Pike. She did that reality show where INXS was looking for a new lead singer....she should have won...anywho...
Patrice Pike is playing the inaugural Grace Foundation of Texas fundraising event from 6:30 – 10p.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2009, at Warehouse Live! WOOOHOOOO! The performance and event are designed to raise funds—and awareness—about Grace Foundation’s mission to end the cycle of teenage homelessness.
Now in its third year, The Grace Foundation awards scholarships to teens and young adults to help them leave homelessness and find a productive and more hopeful horizon. The Grace Foundation of Texasis designed to respond to the financial gap that exists for teens and young adults who have survived childhood homelessness and have “aged-out” of the existing support systems available to them. Yes we are talking about kids that were in the adoption centers that never found homes. Did you know they are kicked out at aged 18? Left just to fend for themselves without financial support or the loving support of a family?
“The Grace Foundation has had proven success in shepherding our homeless neighbors in need onto a path of productivity and positive outcomes. Grace is expanding out from Austin and going statewide, this time, starting in Houston. We hope everyone will come November 21 to Warehouse Live in Houston to support Grace,” said Patrice Pike, co-founder of the Grace Foundation of Texas and host of the evening’s events.
Guess what DISHIES!! This is the first-ever Grace Foundation event held in Houston and YOU get to be a part of it! Ticket holders will be treated to Berryhill’s Tacos and signature cocktails from Tommy Bahama Rum during the private VIP show. If that isn't cool enough...there will be an artist on hand to paint a mural of the event LIVE! Fine artist, Rolando Diaz, will be painting starting with a blank canvas, and finishing with a painting of the evening! That painting can go home with you because it will be auctioned off that night to benefit Grace Foundation. A silent auction will feature resort trips, artisan-crafted jewelry, a guided raft trip with Pike, and more.
VIP tickets start at $50.00 and YES they are a tax deduction. Advance VIP tickets that include access to reserved seating, VIP lounge, dinner, and complimentary cocktails can be reserved online at http://www.gracetexas.org/. Tickets will be sold at the door, as well, but event hosts are recommending pre-sale to ensure VIP list and faster registration. Media welcome—RSVP is required.
SEE YOU THERE DISHES!!! ROCK ON
The Grace Foundation, launched in 2006 by Patrice Pike and Todd Young, targets teen and young adult homelessness and its relationship to poverty, health care, domestic abuse, drop-out risk, and the workforce/economy. Grace has success and experience in serving those in immediate need of shelter, education direction, mentorship, health care, and safety.
Dancing With the Stars Curse
And the DWTS curse strikes again!
Former Republican congressman Tom DeLay is expected to announceon tonight's results show that he must leave the competition due to his foot injuries.
He has stress fractures in both of his feet and despite his doctor's warning, he performed the samba with partner Cheryl Burkelast night. DeLay said of his foot issues as his DWTS training began:
"They put me in Latin shoes with high heels, and my toes almost fell off the first week. So I went to a podiatrist, and I got a little problem with my feet. A cortisone shot cured me up."
Yet not cured enough to continue with the show.
Does anyone find it ironic and funny that he danced to "Why Can't We Friends?"
Randy Quaid Just Can't Catch a Break
Mainly because he keeps breaking the law. This throws a small wrench in most people's plans....i'm just sayin'. As we've been telling you, the elder Quaid and his wife have been running into/from depending on how you look at it...trouble lately.
The latest in the saga comes in where the couple were remodeling their only piece of property in Marfa, Texas, which is a converted warehouse. However, a Cease and Desist sign has been placed out front because the twosome failed to get the proper construction permits from the city.
Now are they just ignorant to how things work in the real world or do they really think they are just better than and able to just do whatever they want? Apparently Randy gets a sizable check for about half a million dollars every August in residuals, most likely for airings of the National Lampoon movies.
So remind us why they couldn't pay the hotel bills or the minimal fees required for the permits to do construction work?

The Spirit of Aggieland
Ok DISHIES...yes it is true...we are an Aggie office...however as much as we believe in the Spirit of Aggieland, we don't believe it can perform incredible sports stunts...check out the football team the last few seasons...we digress...check this out!
And if that isn't enough...
Real or fake, it doesn't matter, because Dude Perfect is filming and uploading these videos for a good cause. For every 100,000 views their Summer Camp edition clip receives, the guys will sponsor an impoverished child through an organization called Compassion International.
So visit Dude Perfect, watch the videos and help do some good in this world.
After all...isn't that what DISH and the Spirit of Aggieland is all about??
