Art of Conversation

The event is coming up soon so grab your last minute tickets asap!

City Artworks had an artfully delish kick-off party at the home of Ken and Mady Kades, co-chaired by Dr. Franklin and Cindi Rose.  The art scene was well represented that night with Barbara Davis, Arturo Boada (chef and conversationalist), Kymberly Gremellion, and Deborah Colton.  Sharon Brier looked very cool with a Mona Lisa dress on, and Lynn Wyatt was magnificent in black.  In the crowd of around 80 notables included:

Spiritual TV and radio hostess Tina Marie Jones, Mia Berring, Keelan Wachman, and Michael Brier.  The fare was Asian, including sushi, spring rolls, grilled chicken in peanut sauce, and Mc Donald’s chicken McNuggets, in sweet and sour sauce.  The home owners and their children own 39 Mc Donald’s throughout Houston, and that has supplied the home with an art amusement style feeling—perhaps one of the best homes in Houston, to represent the contemporary art world.

Cindi and Mady, also had over 8 different home-made desserts as well!

Chicks with Guns

OH DISHIES!! We had this gorgeous book in our offices last week and couldn't put it down! Chicks with Guns, by Lindsay McCrum officially hits bookstore shelves in October but you can preview it and meet the author TONIGHT!

Fifteen of the women featured in the book are from Texas ten from Houston and five from San Antonio! Author Lindsay is launching the book to the public this evening... River Oaks Bookstore for a meet + greet and booksigning on Monday, September 26 from 5-7pm, 3270 Westheimer, Houston, TX, 77098, phone: (713) 520-0061.

Here is the background: Iternationally renowned portrait photographer Lindsay McCrum latest creation is an amazing coffee table book entitled Chicks with Guns. It's a gorgeous exploration of the powerful connection between women and their firearms. It offers a cultural portrait of women gun owners in America through photographs that are both beautiful and unexpected. Each portrait is accompanied by a personal statement in the subject’s own words that describe her relationship to firearms and the role they’ve played in her life.

Because gun ownership and shooting cut across class, age, occupation, background and geography in America, guns are resolutely democratic. The women depicted in Chicks with Guns represent this variety. They reside in all regions of the country, come from all levels of society, and participate seriously in diverse shooting activities. From policewomen to hunters, ranchers to competition shooters, the collection of portraits in Chicks with Guns defies stereotypes often associated with aspects of the popular culture of both guns and women. Of the 86 women featured in the book included are some well known Texas names: Lynn Wyatt, Alexandra Knight as well as Karol and Kelly Barnhart and Heather Kraft.

A little about the Author: Lindsay McCrum is a fine art photographer residing in New York City and California. She received her undergraduate degree from Yale University and her Masters of Fine Arts from the San Francisco Art Institute. Trained as a painter in oils, Ms. McCrum switched exclusively to portrait photography in 2003. Her photographic projects include 25/50, an exploration of aging in the faces of men; Superheroes and Commandos, a study of boys, costumes and popular culture; and Dress Up, an examination of young girls and the shaping of contemporary notions of fashion and beauty. These series and other work have been exhibited in galleries in the U.S. and Europe.

DISH highly suggests you take the opportunity this evening to stop by River Oaks Bookstore this evening to meet Lindsay and pick up a few copies of this amazing work of art for yourself and for a holiday gift. Word is, The arthor is as charming, strong and engaging as this book and Lynn Wyatt is due to be on hand as well!

Texan Shows Beautifully in England

Texan and international socialite Lynn Wyatt just returned home after spending some time with long time friend Sir Elton John at his home in England enjoying company of Lady Gaga and Billie Jean King...also house guests. (Large house)

Mrs. Wyatt and the others were guests at Elton's 12th annual White Tie and Tiaras Ball which benefits the Elton John AIDS Foundation. The hosts with the most, Elton and his partner David Furnish, held the event for the 670 guests at their Woodside estate in Old Windsor just outside of London...the same town where Windsor Castle sits.  Lady Gaga was the entertainment and the event raised $8.5 million for the charity! YIPPEEE!!

Lynn gushed over Gaga:

"We could hear her rehearsing in the tent, then Lady Gaga came in and joined the luncheon table. (Her outfit  — a lace bra and ephemeral skirt, just sheer enough to reveal her bikini panties.) "I like her. She's very real, she is number one a showman and number two a very, very smart gal. She knows how to market herself."

Mrs. Wyatt recalled Gaga started singing along to her recording of "Speechless"during lunch and that the luncheon group joined in singing and waving their arms over their heads. What a moment!

SEEN AND BE SCEN": The gala that followed that evening was a who's who of celebrities from various arenas including Valentino, Dame Shirley Bassey, Elizabeth Hurley and Arun Nayar, Kate Beckinsale, Sharon Osbourne, Jon Bon Jovi, Boris Becker, Kid Rock among many others. OHHH TO BE A FLY ON THE WALL!!

After the last limo departed, Elton and company retired to his living room for hours of our favorite pass time...DISHING! Lynn says that the conversation was so lively that she and the gang including Gaga and King chatted on until 3:30 in the morning.

Beyond that spectacular experience, Lynn's trip was far from over! There were teas and dinners with various Rothschilds, visits to Buckingham Palace and St. James Palace, a day at Ascot including lunch for 34 in the private Queen Elizabeth Room where she sat with Andrew Lloyd Webber.

As soon as Lynn returned to Houston, hubby Oscar Wyatt whisked his wife off to their South Texas ranch for a bit of R&R from her busy travels.

DISH WANTS LYNN'S LIFE FOR JUST ONE MONTH!!! =)
