Priscilla Rides Into Town

BY DISH CONTRIBUTOR SCOTT ARTHUR:

TUTS kicks off the 2013-2014 season with glitz and glammor!!

Theater Under The Stars begins their production season out loud and in your face with more than 500 Tony award winning costumes and 20 dance-floor favorites. Only one show can deliver all of this – Priscilla Queen of the Desert The Musical.

Based on the 1994 Academy Award willing film and fresh from a Broadway run, produced in part by Bette Midler, the Houston production stars Wade McCollum (Tick/Mitzi), Scott Willis (Bernadette) and Bryan West (Adam/Felicia) as the trio of friends on a road trip of a lifetime, who hop aboard a battered old bus (Priscilla) searching for love and friendship in the middle of the Australian outback and end up finding more than they could ever have dreamed.

From all accounts this is a 4D experience featuring eye-popping, off the color- chart  costumes, and music like “It’s Raining Men”, "Material Girl” and “I Will Survive” that will sweep you out of your seat and onto the dance floor.

On Monday, September 23rd, TUTS is presented a free movie screening of the movie that started it all. It was at Sundance Cinemas, located at downtown Houston’s Bayou Place. According to attendees the place was packed and everyone was singing and dancing!

Priscilla Queen of the Desert The Musical appears at the Hobby Center from September 29 – October 12. Tickets (starting at only $24) are available on-line at TUTS.com, by phone at (713) 558-TUTS (8887), outside the Houston area at (888) 558-3882, or in person at the Theatre Under The Stars Box Office, located at 800 Bagby at Walker, Monday - Friday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
