Mrs. Governor Good Hair is Asking for Money to fix the Mansion
In a news conference from which the details are still coming, Anita Perry was asking for money to rebuild the Governors mansion.
DISH totally understands the need to rebuild and thinks is should be done, but is that the best use of our tax dollars right now?
What do you think??
Somebody May Not Want to Get Elected..
Sure, McCain is uber, ultra conservative, this we know and can understand it. However, is it a good idea to isolate a group of people and deny them rights just because you don't agree with them??
This is from the New York Times...
Mr. McCain, who with his wife, Cindy, has an adopted daughter, said flatly that he opposed allowing gay couples to adopt. “I think that we’ve proven that both parents are important in the success of a family so, no, I don’t believe in gay adoption,” he said.
TSK TSK Mr. McCain!!! Click HERE for the rest of the article.
Meet the Press
You know, as much as DISH misses Tim Russert, and we do....deeply...Brian Williams did an alright job today, albeit obviously democratically slanted. That part was disappointing. Sundays will never be the same.
It was also reported this morning that Tom Brokaw will be in the moderator's chair through the elections. We will hold out for judgment.
Tim Russert's Rainbow
"Surreal' is how one person described this scenic rainbow which appeared over D.C. just as the funeral services for Tim Russert concluded, which included a rendition of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow". In the photographer's words:
This is probably one of the most surreal experiences I have ever had in my life. 10 minutes after the memorial at the Kennedy Center ended and the acoustic version of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" came on as people were leaving, I heard people outside of my apartment in DC on their balconies. I ran out to discover this full rainbow over the National Cathedral! It had to have covered the entire city of DC. There is no doubt in my mind that it was from Tim Russert himself. The weird thing is it didn't rain all day and then it rained for about 3 minutes after the memorial ended only to stop and create this beautiful scene. I want NBC to share this with EVERYONE!George Clooney said it best; "There are no words."
NBC's Tim Russert, Dead at 58
On of DISH'S Favorite Sunday morning talking heads has passed away today. Tim Russert NBC Washington Bureau Chief and moderator for "Meet the Press" collapsed and died on the set this afternoon. Russert was “one of the premier political journalists and analysts of his time,” Tom Brokaw, the former longtime anchor of “NBC Nightly News,” said in announcing Russert’s death. “This news division will not be the same without his strong, clear voice.”

DISH Scooped the Safety Problem at the GRB
In a story only DISH brought you (click HERE to read it) we uncovered a safety problem at the George R. Brown Convention Center. According to fire safety reports there were not enough sprinklers to satisfy the fire safety code. WELL!!!! DISH has a good friend that is a Fire Chief with the city of Houston and he spoke the man that is the senior inspector with an office at the GRB!!! He confirmed that the story is in fact TRUE!!! And he went on to confirm the other part of DISH'S story which is that the GRB knew about the safety problem and didn't ever do anything about it!
The "official" part of the story is that the issue has been put on a list to be taken care of and the the problem is only in a storage room, not where the public actually spends time. BUT think about it, DISHIES...do you have any idea how HUGE a storage room can be at the GRB??? A fire in a room like that can still cause considerable and significant damage and would fall on the TAX PAYERS (this means YOU) to pay for. It's already going to fall on your shoulders to pay to fix the problem that should have been done right to begin with....are you UPSET yet???
We'll keep you posted. =)
Our Government Dollars at Work
The House just passed a bill giving a 3 month extension to those jobless Americans that are on unemployment and can not find jobs in the horrible market. You see, unemployment benefits only pays for 6 months and at the very most only pays just over $300 a week, regardless of how high your paycheck was before you were down sized. Problem is that there is virtually no support for this bill in the Senate and the White House. Regardless of the fact that The Labor Department reported this week that the number of people filing new claims for unemployment benefits last week increased by 25,000 from the week before. The unemployment rate in May jumped to 5.5 percent, up from 5 percent in April. It was the biggest one-month gain in 22 years.
Americans are looking to it's government to see if it's going to help them. It will be interesting to see if it does.
DISH says: If they are looking to find some funds to help the Americans out that have fallen on hard times because of the poor economy, they might want to look into the NASA fund, after all, they just sent a probe into space to go check out no-longer a planet Pluto to the tune of $700 Million. I'm just sayin'.
DISH is Walking!
Gas has hit a national average of $4.00 a gallon this weekend. Therefore, DISH has decided we are walking or using public transport to all of our appointments this week. It will help the environment, do wonders for our figure, help our pocketbook and hopefully send a small message that this is unacceptable and needs to be dealt with...PRESIDENT BUSH!!!
If you can, participate with DISH this week...lets see what we can do!
Governer Good Hair Found out the Hard way That Hairspray is Flammable...
The 152-year-old Texas Governor's mansion sustained serious damage as a four-alarm fire set the mansion ablaze at 2 this morning.
100 firefighters fought the blaze -- no one was home at the time of the fire. (Wonder where Governer Perry was at that hour? Shouldn't all good governers be at home and in bed by 2 am??)
UPDATE: Fire investigators say the blaze was intentionally set, but there's no indication it was intended as a direct threat to Gov. Rick Perry.
More updates to come.
Perry and his wife were in Stockholm, Sweden, on Sunday as part of a European trip. They are scheduled to return Tuesday. So glad we pay them so well that they can have such a wonderful life and yet our unemployment rate is what it is....one word Governer Good Hair....CONTINENTAL!!!
Thank GOD We are NOT Oregon...
However, DISH can't help but wonder how far away we are from THIS issue!
Watch the link above or read HERE and you will be horrified!
